Katsina State Governor Dikko Umaru Radda on February 11, 2026, pledged ₦10 million in financial support to the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) chapters in the state during a meeting with union leaders at the Government House in Katsina.

The governor made the announcement while receiving a delegation of NURTW officials led by Alhaji Musa Garba Yandoma, Chairman of NURTW Katsina State and the Northern States Region.

Radda said the support was aimed at strengthening the union’s operations and reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to community development and organized labour.

“The efforts of NURTW in supporting communities and maintaining peace are recognized and appreciated. I pledge my support of ₦10 million to assist the Katsina chapters in executing their operations more effectively,” the governor said.

He urged union leaders to promote unity among members and maintain responsible leadership. He also assured the delegation that their requests, including support for operational vehicles, would be considered based on need.

According to Yandoma, the delegation, comprising 96 zonal chairmen, visited the governor to endorse President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Radda ahead of the 2027 elections and to commend the administration’s performance.

“We are here to acknowledge the results we are witnessing, especially the improvements in security across the state,” Yandoma said, citing urban renewal and road construction projects as areas of impact.

He also referenced state education initiatives, including the establishment of smart schools, and described the restoration of local government autonomy as a significant development.

During the visit, the NURTW chairman and secretary presented awards to the governor in recognition of his leadership, according to the statement issued by Ibrahim Kaula Mohammed, Chief Press Secretary to the Katsina State Governor.

Other officials in attendance included Deputy Governor Faruk Lawal; Speaker of the Katsina State House of Assembly Nasir Yahaya Daura; Secretary to the State Government Abdullahi Garba Faskari; Principal Private Secretary Abdullahi Aliyu Turaji; and members of the Katsina State Executive Council.
